Well... without my crystal ball, i wasnt even close last week!!! Didnt think i needed it, to be honest! But i pulled it out of retirement just to be safe... Don't want all the anonymous readers to think I'm just full of Rubbish... for some reason my crystal ball keeps giving me an error msg ***this is Div 3- who cares*** needless to say i was a little insulted but I think what it's trying to tell me is that since this is Div 3, it will really depend who has their starting 11 show up.. coincidentally there is direct statistical data suggesting that the lower the league, the more inclined players are to not show up regularly... this is science guys, everyone remember this.. first of the week! HellasV SFFC(the Good one)- So i'm going to use my deductive reasoning to call this one... The SFFC team has shown to be a very difficult team to beat but my pessimistic ways are telling me that they're due for a loss... and jeeze the hellas have two full squads on their roster... they should be able to show up with a starting 11 even if it isnt theirs... 2-1 Hellas Upset of the week. Prospect V Gorge- this should be a good battle... my money will have to go on gorge as the PL team just doesnt look like they've got that edge, you know? Gorge 2-0 Alberni V Braves- can't stress the point enough that i love the fire of the Braves, always have... however this should be a tough test against a team who should be able to scrape together a team for two consecutive road trips... 1-0 Alberni **side note** road trips are tough... road trips are a great bonding experience... roadtrips are not an excuse... at the end of the day i would hope that the team with the most dedication and depth will win this division... that said: good luck on your roadies up to Alberni... and trying to have a full roster(not gonna happen).. so congrats to Alberni on having a record above 50% any season... Lakehill V Westcastle- lakehill... westcastle is having a shocker... 3--0 LHDP finally SFFC(not so good one) V bye... i should really just leave this one alone.... good luck guys! btw- you werent worth spellcheck aliability

keeping it short and simple. As aliability says enough(:
Hellas vs sffc (Harris) - This should be a good game to watch. 1-0 hellas as aliability says upset of he week
Alberni vs S. Braves - braves are a solid team but alberni got more skill. 2-0 alberni
Lake Hill vs westcastle - lake hill will take this game 2-1
Gorge vs Prospect lake - this is a big game for lakers. if they can get their starter goalie then i will give this game to prospect. 2-1 prospect

3-0 sffc ( the good one) Hellas didnt stand a chance sffc put away 3 fast ones and basically had the rest of the night off. Very lack luster effort from Hellas. Sffc play Bye next who may put up a better fight.

And the unsportsmanlike award goes to the coach of SFFC Harris Dodge. Hellas v SFFC results in a forfeit due to the cards accidentally being left in the car after the coach was dropped off at the pitch. When the error was realized the cards were sent for and were on the way to the pitch. However, the coach of SFFC decided to call for a forfeit and walk his team off the pitch without playing. Literally the cards were minutes away.
Unfortunately I wasn't at the game, and lucky for them because I would have had some choice words over this issue.
This is an amateur league where we play for the fun of the game. Yes rules are rules and regardless of the forfeit our team wanted to still play. All this does is show the complete lack of sportsmanship and integrity that the coach of SFFC has. Everyone can spout off how it's our fault, etc, and I don't dispute that, but ffs it's 10-15 minutes late to start the game, or at minimum take the forfeit and still play it! What a waste of everyone's time.
After last week's decision by the league to change the game with the Braves less than a week before the game was to be played, and now no leniency for the cards at all, I am frustrated beyond belief.

Man that's frustrating, especially considering our last two games the refs didn't even bother to look at our cards, they just said you have them? Great. I guess fusion was afraid to play for the points, that's how much getting back up to div 2 means to them.

Wow, that seems pretty low by SFFC. I'd be beyond choked to even be on the SFFC team let alone the Hellas....what a waste of time and energy. I hope to see the reasoning from someone from SFFC...did the team vote to not play or was it just decided by team management to just take the points and walk away? I'm not sure how you could decide for forfeit if the cards were literally on the way and the ref was okay with it. BUSH league stuff but there is always two sides to every story...hope to hear it.

So I heard everything first hand and Ian Bush, coach of Sffc has zero respect for the game of soccer we all love... So first of all the ref checked their player cards first then ours 5 mins before kick off when we realized coach, who was rushing from work to a 615 kick off forgot his brief case with his wife in the car... Right then we sent our player on the 15min round trip from Lochside to Mount Doug park area to get them... In the mean time ref went to inform there coach we forgot our cards and if he was cool to either start with out them or push back the start time 10mins... He instantly said "pack up your stuff boys we win 3-0"... (His own players were now protesting his choice). The ref even appalled by Ian's actions said no I can give them at least another 5 mins... Ian said go ahead but there's no point because even if they win I can protest... The clocked turned 621pm and Ian ordered his players to take their gear off... Most of them were p**sed at him, and I felt for them, I said look your players even want to play... He said "I don't care about my players", then I said "really they mean nothing to you wow". He then said "I have 15 better players than them so they can all leave if they want"... That's when I knew the type of low life we were dealing with, "I walk off and said sorry you guys have to play for him that's not what soccer is all about, our coach would do anything for us". 90% of his team walked away with their heads down in embarrassment and disbelief of what their coach just said about them... SFFC organization should really look into how a guy like Ian makes their organization look, I used to play for the Gordon Head Ones for years and from what I remember it was an organization that believed in the love of the game, sportsmanship, respect for your opponent and especially your own players... Last night was a disgrace to the game of soccer on many levels... I hope either the league, SFFC, or Ian's players take a stand about this, it's really tainting our league and leaves a brutal mark on the sport. We had guys re arrange flights, work commitments, baby sitters, family trips to be there, and to have it called off over seriously 10 mins, (that if our cards were checked first never would have happened) is atrocious....

I've seen few more posts that deliberately distort the facts so relentlessly. You are speaking on behalf of a lot of people and about a lot of things you don't know anything about.
Ian is the single most important person to the men's side at SFFC dating back at least two seasons. No one does more work to make sure the div 1 thru div 4 and u21 sides stay afloat, that is an indisputable fact. He moves heaven and earth for his players, which is the only reason half of them are with the team this season.
The comment about the 15 players was a joke, the clue was in the players (who you say are choked) laughing at it. I suspect you know that but it doesn't fit your narrative.
Don't have time to add more at the moment.

I speak on behalf of my self a player on the sffc team and I compleaty support and understand why our coach did what he did. I love soccer and would have gladly played the game but unfortunately the coach of the Hellas forgot the player cards and since it was past the grace time after kick off time and your team had to forfeit. Do not put the blame on anyone from sffc. Do you blame a cop if you get a speeding ticket. Hellas should have come more prepared. Hopefully our next meet up they do.

Is there still that rule where once a year you can use a photocopied set of the ID cards if the real ones are forgotten?

As coach of the Lakehill team all I can say is if it had been us vs. Hellas we would have waited for the cards, no question. That's the reason we sign up every year, to play the games, not to hope the other team screws up their paperwork so we can get easy points. There's gotta be some leniency, I mean this isn't the freaking Premier league even though some guys think it is. And to not even play after the forfeit? I'll be telling my guys to mark down Dec. 5th in their calendars...

The comment about the 15 players was a joke, the clue was in the players (who you say are choked) laughing at it. I suspect you know that but it doesn't fit your narrative. Don't have time to add more at the moment. Joke? It actually started when one of your players said "I want to play this is bs"... Ian told that player that's great and that he wouldn't be playing again... And I said "look even your own players want to still play" and he started by saying he didn't care about them and and that he had 15 better... That is what was said... Word for word, which makes it a FACT... He actually carried on calling players on our team scumbags etc... Our coach kept it classy as usual and asked us to drop it and move on... We actually apologized to players on your team for having to deal with a guy like that... If you ask around 10 people that know Ian I'm sure I'm not the only one that thinks this way of him... He was even an ass in the 7 a side summer tournament, there are players that actually tried out for us that said he was the direct and only reason they left... "Because he treats players like $hit", were the exact words used... Last year when we beat them and it was nearing the end of the game a friend of mine on his team said that his direct orders were to come on the field and deliberately injure, by cheap shot, our key players, the player wouldn't do it and was benched, he later quit that team... So keep defending him and his actions, but by the looks of his past and his character and this exact instance we can see how he tries to keep his team "afloat". I urge other team coaches to vote on what they would have done... #ianisruiningthebeautifulgame #ianneedstolearntheresmoretosoccerthanjustwinning

Let me frame it with a proper analogy for everyone. When you sit behind the wheel of a car you must have 2 things; drivers licence and registration. If you get pulled over by a cop you must produce both documents as mentioned above. Let's say you don't have your DL but you have your insurance and other pieces of id. The cop will as any normal, rational person would, look at the context of the situation and make a decision based on the information he can gather. One way would be by referencing other pieces of ID with the registration of the car. Matching names? Bingo, this guy is more than likely telling the truth. Let’s give him a break here for just having an off day and making a simple mistake. So now I'll use your analogy 90+.. You're speeding and get pulled over. Cop asks you for your DL and reg. You give him both and he asks why you were speeding. you tell him you're late to work or picking up your kid. The cop typically goes back his car and again uses his reasoning skills. He looks at the situation and all the factors involved. How fast were you speeding? Where you driving dangerously? You check out when he does a back ground check and he comes back up to your window. He decides to let you go with a warning but asks that you slow down and obey the rules of the road. Both situations the person that was in question, clearly breaking the law, was allowed to move on with their day with the cop being a completely reasonable person. How does this apply to a soccer game... Let me tell you. Yes, we the Hellas didn't have our cards when asked. When we did realize we didn't have them because of a mix up, we sent someone to get them from the coaches house, 15 minutes away. I suggested to the ref that we can show our DL which is in fact a legal document and cross reference them with our game sheet which we did have. Then when our VISL cards (not a legal document) arrived we could go through them to confirm what was already pretty evident. You may say well the rules state you have to have your VISL ID so a DL wont suffice. Fair enough. But then again, where's the reasoning? Your DL is most certainly an appropriate if not valid short term solution to lack of VISL cards. Right? What should have happened is the referee should have considered the option of using our DL and team list we provided. He should have told the other coach that the cards were on the way and we were going to wait a reasonable time frame set by the referee, not dictated by the opposing coach. The coach should have been a reasonable person and said 'hey, s**t happens. If the cards are on the way then let's either just start and review at half or let's wait till they get here within a reasonable time frame. None of that took place. No one took the time to look at the context of the situation and reason that there was no ill will and it was just an honest mistake. The question I have is why were you so quick to call it a forfeit rather than be a reasonable person and weigh out the situation? Real Cordovas comments about how Ian is a great person at the GH club and does more work for it than anyone at the club leads to suggest Ian is a compassionate person. Am I wrong? So where was the compassion for the situation last night? Would you act the same way if Port Alberni were in town? I highly doubt an official in charge would. Why not even play the game even though you had the 3 points? I’ve said my piece. It is what it is at this point. It doesn't matter who's character is or is not in question. We all know what the rule states as it pertains to VISL player cards. Let the league and Hellas work out next steps. Lastly and for the record, I’m the captain of the Hellas and the 12th of February is most definitely circled on my calendar

Jesus, I see there is no point. It seems you heard what you wanted to hear, the way you wanted to hear it. You must be right, there will be no players at training this week I guess, the team may even fold. Be careful what you believe from irked players that didn't find what they were looking for (playing time usually).
One person got called a scumbag, a person that was behaving like one.
Sent out to hurt people? That's an outrageous thing to say, we might get sent off and lose a game! Slander isn't cool.
Anyway, the ref came over and said "we've been emailed from Vince this week and told to crack down on player cards, we're getting in trouble for not checking them properly and they don't have theirs". We asked what that meant, the ref said "a forfeit, unless we wait". We asked how long cuz the Bobcats play at 8 (it was now 6:12ish already) and were told by the ref that there isn't really a grace period but he could pretend he needed the toilet and postpone the game a short time. He did that.
