I actually don't play on this team. I have just noticed there are 2 teams travelling a long way on this weekend - why do the LIWSA not play this weekend? Now I am not sure of the exact dates the league schedule came out but I am guessing they would have had max a week from when the schedule was out to postpone this game due to the 30 day rule. Again sorry as I don't know this team's reasons for the late cancellation but I do know from being part of a mens teams for a while that its really touch to get a response on who can make a game 1 week away let alone over 30 days away.
And I would prefer some Philips or Hoyne if there is even a slim chance of the beer festival happening.

I think its funny that the PowellRiver guys are "losers". Yes it is unlucky that you are scheduled to play up there on thanksgiving, but it could have been anyone. It is your responsibility to field a team. We had to travel to campbell river with 9 guys a couple years ago three of which were div 4 call ups. Needless to say we got our asses handed to us, but we still showed up. You have nobody to blame but yourselves. #SUCKITUP. #WHOARETHEREALLOSERS

Ya it would have been a great game, and believe me all of our guys want to make the trip, BUT, its Thanksgiving weeekend and we ALL have family and friends coming from all over, and alot of us have families of our own, we begged and pleaded with Powell River to re-schedule, but i guess taking a forfeit game is more important to them than actually earning it. (Losers). And i get that they have to travel aswell, but not on Thanksgiving, it would have been so easy to re-schedule, and we still would have to travel up there. So a BIG screw you to Powell River on not understanding that family and friends ar emore important than travelling up to powell river and playing a meaningless soccer game. Good work boys. The Powell River Villa value family friends and soccer games. We have travelled many of thanksgiving weekends since entering the VISL in 1972 and to my knowledge have never forfeited a game. When we are lucky enough to get a home draw for Thanksgiving it is the biggest revenue game of the season for us. We go to great lengths to advertise our games as we need to raise over $15,000 as season for league fees and travel. Especially for this weekend as our executive had planned an open house for our newly renovated soccer center and had invested a lot of time into this. It will now have to be cancelled. Sorry to make you forfeit, we had a full squad ready for a battle this weekend.

Hearing the Loggers are about to forfeit there game tomorrow night vs the Hill cause its there 35th annual Turkey Shoot in the Sooke Hills tomorrow afternoon. A player told me the visl knows all to well about this event in Sooke. A huge gathering of family members n x wives and 4 wheelers attend this event with the wind up at Buffys.

Schedule came out Mon Aug 24. Without looking at calendar - approx 6 weeks before turkey day. I know that leaves the coach/manager 2 weeks to look at schedule and say - hm, we don't want to play on the weekend of Thanksgiving........ we should reschedule. My guess is that people actually don't know about the rule - then it got too late and here we are. As for the LIWSA not playing this weekend ....... they are women, lots of moms - stereotypes aside - lots who do the cooking etc. if you are one of these people - another big reason to know the rules. And for what it is worth, I just talked to 1 of their coaches today and he thinks they should be playing in the thanksgiving....... granted not s today to the River. I know you are not on the team - but I also know it is not your first day being involved with the League. Might go Coors Banquet .....I like to support the sponsors that support us.

This is amazing. I can't believe I'm gonna do this, but I've got to side with PR and Div 1. Stop complaining about them and be mad at your coach/manager/keeper/teammates for being unable to read a calendar!
We had a game rescheduled for a p**sup and visl was more than accommodating. Then again, we're like pros at rules and calendars. Uvic brah!
And having played PR in the cup last year, they're a bunch of beauties who put in way more than we do to make a season happen.
You messed up. You didn't change the game in time. You can't field a team. Your fault.
Enjoy your turkey, turkey.

lol, I know that was hard for you to say.......it had to hurt a little.
Anyways, hopefully this is something other teams can learn from a bit and guys check out the regs a bit more. I know it is hard to believe, but we actually don't want to fine the crap out of people.......but most people respond to that unfortunately.....myself included. I would rather spend my time setting up fun and helpful initiatives for the members of our League.....even if it costs us a little $ sometimes.
