This is for those (who likely don't care) at Tyndall tonight incorrectly badgering a young referee and suggesting we complain about him for the crime of being right.
From FIFA Laws of The Game on cautionable offences for unsporting conduct:
"Player MUST be cautioned if he uses a DELIBERATE trick while the ball is in play to PASS THE BALL TO to his own goalkeeper with his head, chest, knee, etc. in order to circumvent the Law, IRRESPECTIVE of whether the goalkeeper touches the ball with his hands or NOT. The offence is committed BY THE PLAYER IN ATTEMPTING TO circumvent both the letter and the spirit of Law 12 and play is restarted with an indirect free kick"
All refs make mistakes but what is refreshing sometimes is some of the younger refs who not only know most of the laws in full but also have the balls to dish out the appropriate punishment for them when they are broken at a higher rate than some of the older referees can be bothered to.
I'm not sure if Bays really like our centre-back or don't like our goalkeeper and wanted him booked but in giving our centre-back his second yellow of the game and sending him off for flicking the ball up so he could head back to the goalkeeper the referee was spot on. He was also right to book your player for standing right in front of that free kick and getting the ball kicked against him. It should happen more.
