Vic West have just been eliminated from the provincials meaning no island representative in the latter stages. Both Cowichan and Bays had FVSL opponents and must have been fancied to advance, although Bays in their defence had to travel which is never fun. Our Div 1 on the island is perhaps as competitive as it has ever been but this does not mean that the overall standard is improving, I certainly think it is getting worse....ie best league in Europe English Prem, but no side in it is in top 8 teams in Europe. What can we do to improve this situation? This is a serious problem if you want to see kids coming through from mini soccer, going through the system with their clubs and becoming part of a team capable of challenging for provincial titles...and maybe nationals.

Well, we don't have metro soccer for youth anymore which is a big loss. If your youth soccer isn't good, your adult soccer wont be either. Vancouver has more competition, and that's how the cream of the crop rise to the top.
