Quarter Finals! Waiting two weeks seems cruel and unusual at this point! JDF 3B vs. Lakers 3A JDF just knocked off one of the best 3A teams. Not sure if that says anything about the two divisions... despite both teams being in 6th, I have to take JDF for this game. 3-1. Casuals vs. Us-Guys. We know Pakos and the boys are looking to take it to us. We are looking forward to the challenge. There will be beer. Alberni 3A vs. Fernwood 3B Match of the brackets! Fernwood seems to have sorted their game out after smashing Bobcats 5-0. Wow that was a surprising score and Alberni have been able to sleep through the cup this far. The travel up to Alberni may work in their favor, but I think Fernwood takes it 3-2. Bandits vs Dodge. Should be a decent game. Dodge is obviously the favourite, but Bandits have beaten JDF and JDF beat the team that beat and tied Dodge. So maybe an upset here? I doubt it. The Dodge boys make you work for everything and pay on your mistakes. Bandits make mistakes. 3-0 Dodge.

Everyone wants the chance to play at RAP in a few weeks JDF 3B v. Lakers 3A This is a toss up from what I can tell... I'll flip a coin and take JDF Casuals v. Us-Guys Past two games have been close enough that this could go either way and both teams have a healthy rivalry. The clear winner is the Vic West clubhouse for making a few extra beer sales after the game. Alberni 3A v Fernwood 3B Have to take Alberni on this one - Fernwood can be a little up and down and the road trip could be enough to throw them off of their game. Bandits v Dodge Dodge on this one - Bandits might be healthy from having a snoozer of a cup draw but will now have to remember how to play a decent team.

Alberni vs Fernwood a miracle by Alberni who were missing 5 key players we went with a 4-5-1 formation and managed to hold Fernwood to only 7 goals. A close battle and Fernwood managed to squeak in 7 lucky flukes to sneak past last years champions. good luck to Fernwood in the next round we don't mind losing to the next challenge cup winners!

Down to the nitty gritty!
Vic West vs. Jdf... We expect to make the finals. No matter how ridiculous of a game time.
Dodge vs. Fernwood.
With the way 3b has been dominating 3a in the cup so far and bandits taking Dodge to 120.. I think fernwood wins this one. 2-1. Will be a hell of a game though I bet.

Good competitive game last night at UVIC with Saanich Fusion Dodge advancing to the final with a 2-0 win over Fernwood. Game could have went either way with Fernwood hitting the post at start of second half just before Saanich bagged their first.
SF defence other than one chance was again exceptional. Grabbed a nice second goal to secure the win.
Plaudits to Fernwood for the way they played the game and the way in which they handled defeat. Class acts.
Onto the final!

"We expect to make the finals". Ouch. Confidence is a good thing but you can't look too far past opponents in a knockout cup competition, especially when they've held you once this season already.
JDF get to provincials and might win a cup despite a slide in results in the second half of the season, not a bad haul. Congrats to Gorge who have been waiting around to see if they go to provincials (or they don't give a..).
Harsh on Fernwood who miss out in the end. In my opinion league position should determine prov cup reps but that's another conversation.
Expecting a sell out half front row on Saturday.

In front of a 1/2front row sold out crowd. JDF pulls out a hard fought 2-0 Win over Saanich. Gutsy effort by all those there. The better team definitely won the day.

George Pearkes Challenge Cup Final between Saanich Fusion Harris Dodge and Juan de Fuca Allflow. A match that JDF won 2-0. I think it is safe to say they were the underdog and that it was a well contested match. Without over analyzing and stating the obvious, JDF finished their chances well today - and SF did not even though they created plenty. JDF Keeper made some clutch saves when needed and the back line kept a pretty potent offence in check on the day. A very good crowd out there today for this match, the JDF fans were pretty loud and were the VISL's version of the 12th man I'm sure. Fun to have the JDF ballkids out there today - and they did a good job. Was fun to give them a very stern pregame talk where I had to really make sure they did not kick the ball over the fence if it was a SF throw in late in the game - time wasting ....... kids were great, wish there was not scheduling conflicts and we could have them out for more games! Congrats to JDF on wrapping up an impressive local soccer year. Game MVP was Brent Cameron of JDF, shutout to Chris Ohara

Kudos out for the whole JDF side for taking out 3 top teams on there way to Cup victory. Well deserved. Hats off to Matt for remembering the ID cards for yesterdays game. I see JDF couldnt parade the hardware down Goldstream Ave to Darcys lastnight. Must be the Drew Porter rule. Good luck in the BCs.

Thanks Vin.
We were a bit disappointed about how much we dropped off in the league, be it down to injuries or perhaps the McGavin Cup run took it's toll, but taking home the Challenge Cup was a great way to end the season. Going into the final, we loved the 'underdog' narrative, embraced it even -- perhaps dropping so many points in the league ended up doing some good.
Saanich was on of the toughest teams we've faced all year, and definitely made our 'keeper work for it.
Best of luck to Saanich and all the Island Teams in the BC's.
Cheers, MC
